HS Hierarchy (Demo)
Note: Working demo, if you'd like to leave feedback or shape the game you can follow along on discord HERE.
Welcome to Westfield, a living small-town school RPG where classes, friendships, money, hunger, danger and the clock all compete for your attention.
HS HIERARCHY is a life RPG built around eight trainable skills, a persistent town and multiple forms of progression. Career Level measures your overall journey. GPA measures how you are doing in school. Reputation, Notoriety, Heat, clique standing and faction rank track entirely different parts of your life.
There is no single score that replaces everything else, and never enough time to do everything.
THE ONE-WEEK DEMO
Your new character begins on August 31 with Bridge Day at Westfield Middle School. This guided orientation teaches movement, storage, timed training, food, Cooking, Fitness and combat before introducing the bank, mall and your home.
Going to bed begins September 1 and your first official day at Westfield High.
The demo then gives you seven complete days, Monday through Sunday, to attend school, explore the town, train skills, earn money, take quests and decide what matters to you. At 6:30 AM the following Monday, the week ends with a recap of your GPA, Career Level, Reputation, completed quests and strongest skill.
CHOOSE HOW TO SPEND YOUR WEEK
The Scholar. Attend class, manage passing periods and meals, train Academics, Test-Taking and Tech, use the libraries and school training stations, help other students and begin building a real GPA. Attendance matters, but Career Level remains separate from academic performance.
The Athlete. Train Fitness, Strength and Stamina in the gym, on the field and around town. Prepare for tryouts, join school athletics and participate in the Big Game. If you make the team, you play on the field. If you do not, you can watch from the stands.
The Social Climber. Build Social skill, earn clique standing, change how different groups treat you and work toward pledging one of Westfield’s five factions: Jocks, Nerds, Preps, Arts or Burnouts. Faction membership affects prices, rival reactions, daily crew work, turf safety and exclusive equipment.
The Hustler. Work scheduled shifts, stock shelves, sell useful finds, search dumpsters, loot marked lockers or deal with people operating outside the normal school economy. Legal and illegal opportunities exist, but so do school hours, shift limits, Heat, curfew, truancy, detention, arrest, fines and community service.
The Explorer. Travel between the school, homes, mall, Main Street, Oak and Water, the Rough Side, public library, skate park, Town Hall, Urgent Care, restaurants and other businesses. Walk, ride the school or public bus, or use an owned skateboard or bicycle with wear, repairs, locks and theft risk.
The Collector. Open Cryptid Clash boosters, build a 150-card binder and chase the exclusive reward for completing the full set. Westfield also contains arcade challenges, poker, movies, random encounters and unique activity rewards that cannot simply be bought from a store.
A TOWN BUILT AROUND TIME
Westfield uses a real calendar. Weekends fall on Saturday and Sunday. The Calendar app tracks classes, tryouts, games, rehearsals, exams, dances, garage sales, movies and other scheduled events.
Businesses keep their own hours. Employees leave, entrances lock and windows go dark when a location closes. Urgent Care remains open around the clock. Students follow school schedules, adults move through town, traffic becomes lighter overnight and the school bus operates on weekday routes.
Daylight also follows the date. Sunrise, sunset, morning shadows, golden hour, streetlights and winter darkness change throughout the school year rather than using one fixed lighting schedule.
Every activity costs something: time, supplies, hunger, stamina, money, equipment wear or social consequences. Cooking makes food more efficient. Banks protect cash and offer savings bonds. Better backpacks provide space. Equipment has requirements, effects, quality and durability. Combat includes levelled opponents, armor, weapons, possible loot and different penalties depending on where the fight happens.
The current broader build contains eight skills and more than 60 favors, quest chapters and finales. Requirements, schedules and the one-week limit determine how much of that content you can reach in a single demo run.
THE LONGER GAME
The full design uses Career Level to determine class standing:
- Levels 1-25: Freshman
- Levels 26-50: Sophomore
- Levels 51-75: Junior
- Levels 76-99: Senior
- Level 100: Graduation
The demo is not intended to reach graduation. It is a focused first-week slice designed to show how Westfield’s school, town, progression and consequence systems connect.
ACTIVE ALPHA
HS Hierarchy is a broad playable alpha, not a finished beta. The current art is deliberately greybox while the systems, map and progression are still being refined. Expect rough animations, balance changes and occasional navigation or save issues, especially around traffic and transportation.
Feedback from this one-week version will directly shape balancing, quest clarity, progression and the next public build.
